in a rift valley.

Unconformity:
Situated at 40km north-west of Lhasa is an unconformity.
Beneath the unconformity are the Cretaceous sedimentary
rocks and above it are late Cretaceous to early Tertiary
intermediate-acid volcanic rocks.

India
plate:
Along the south band of Yarlung Zangbo river is the
Himalayan Mountains which belong to the Indian plate.

Sheep
lake: Yamzho Yumco in Himalayan Mountains
was a tributary flowing northwest to Yarlung Zangbo
river. During Holocene, elevation of the region dammed
the river to a lake. Hydroelectric power is generated
by the 800m difference of the lake level and the river
level.

plate:
Along the south band of Yarlung Zangbo river is the
Himalayan Mountains which belong to the Indian plate.
|
Ultrabasic:
South of Xigaze is Bainang village where grey-white
rodingite veins occur in serpentinized harzburgite.
This is the ultrabasic rock of the mantle material in
Xigaze ophiolite.

Pillowlava:
Pillow lava, the upper part of the ophiolite, observed
en route from Bainang to Xigaze.
